  • Stay beyond 6 months on B1/B2

Hi, I'm sure many may have asked same question in the past, however can someone please suggest in what conditions and how can I extend my parents in US beyond 6 months on B1/B2 visa...?
Travel for 1 month to Canada will help extension for 6 more months?

They can apply for Extension of Status by filing I-539. Costs a few hundred dollars.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

There's also no Guarantee that the extension will be approved, so you better have arrangements set up in case the extension request is denied.

          Thanks Friends...

I'm not sure but many make suggestions that since parents have multiple entry visa...they can enter US anytime, example post spending 6 months in US, they can visit 1 month to Canada/Mexico or any other country and return for another 6 months?

Is this legal? and if will Homeland security allows them to stay for another 6 months?

Do that if you want your parents to have problems next time they try to enter the US. Also, many of our extra clever Indians get the same idea that they can visit Canada/Mexico for a few days and stay for another 6 months but CBP officers are not fools. They will block your parents from entering this country forever. It is a visitor visa and don't abuse it. Extension should be requested only in genuine situations like health emergencies etc. Not because they have to stay and look after your kids.
