Visitor Visa for Parents- Issues with sponsor's H1B visa Expiring - Question ??
Hello:
My parents are trying to set an appointment for their tourist visa so that they can come in June 2007.
My current H1B visa is expiring in April 2007. My company is applying for my visa extension in December 2006 (Which might take about 2 months to receive the I797)
There are 2 options I am trying to debate.
1) Have my parents take a visa appointment date for Nov 2006. That way they can take my current H1B papers (That is valid only upto April 2007)
2) Wait until February 2007 till I get my new H1 I-797. Then they can take an appointment and go for the interview.
If I choose the first option, then I run the risk that the consulate officer might give them a visa date only upto Apr 2007 (Here I am assuming that the tourist visa will be valid only upto my H1B validity date.. I am not sure whether this assumption is correct)
If I choose the second option, then I run the risk of getting the appointment date very close to their departure date for US.
Please advise if I can still have them schedule an appointment in Nov 2006 or wait until my new H1B visa is processed.
