Hi I applied for visitor visa extension for my dad in Oct 2018 and received the receipt notice.My dad is travelling back to India in Jan and we still haven't received the approval.His DOS in passport has expired in Oct 2018.Please advise the steps if we don't receive the approval until he leaves.Thanks.

Nothing needs to be done. Retain the receipt notice and other paper work, in case he is questioned by CBP regarding this, the next time he tries to enter the US.
