  • Parents got their B2 Visa at Chennai today June 22nd

    Hi all ~

My parents attended their visa interview at Chennai today (June 22nd). Their interview was a breeze. My father and the visa officer also exchanged couple of jokes. I am very happy and relieved at the same time.

I would like to thank one and all who run this forum and all those members who have been kind enough to answer all kinds of queries from complete strangers with utmost patience.

    Thanks a bunch,
    ~Pratap

These were the questions that the visa officer asked my parents.

          1) Why do you need a visa?
          2) What is your son doing?
          3) How many kids do you have? - 2 kids, Elder son is in US working as faculty at a university. Younger son is in Mysore as a Bank Manager.
          4) Is your younger son married too?
          3) Are you retired?
          4) What was your earlier profession? - My father is retired now. He served in the Indian Air Force. So, the visa officer was curious about nature of his job.
          5) Finally the visa officer asked my mother if she was working? - She replied, she is a housewife.

The interveiw was in English. My father can speak fluently. But, my mother is not comfortable speaking in English. I told my father to speak slowly and clearly when replying to the questions.

The visa officer didn't ask for any documents though they were prepared to hand in anything that he needed.
