How long does it usually take for the consulate to put the case in the PDF document that we use to track cases?

Is it normal for them not to add the case even though it has been 20 days since you have submitted the answers to the questions in the pink sheet ?

Did anyone contact consulate because their case has not been added for a long time? If so, can you let me know what their response was?

Hopefully, before the case no is posted on the pdf, it'll be resolved. I think it's typical of them to add, leave the case no's on the pdf even if they are resolved.

My case is on contrary to your's. Though they didnt give my father a pink or yellow note, he was assigned a case no, which we were informed after 3 months. Until then, they just gave a standard response that it's in pending process.

My Father's case no is also not updated in the pdf document. Its been a week since he attended the visa interview.

Can u share with me what happened to ur fathers pending visa? was the case no updated in pdf doc or was it get resolved?

It has been 4.5 months since my day got a pink slip but his case number hasn't been added to the pdf document yet. I called the US dept of state for the first time in 4.5 months last week and the VISA specialist mentioned that the security clearance was completed 2 weeks back and a mail was sent to the chennai office regarding the clearance.

I am hoping that I wil receive a mail from the Chennai consulate sometime this month.

The consulate recently added additional staff (as per a newspaper in India. I don't have the link now) and are trying to speed the process. With so many pending cases, it might take a while for them to complete the entire process and update all the cases.

Sorry for the late reply. I haven't called the Chennai consulate so I am not sure when the best time to call is.

As for my update, I am still waiting for a response from the Chennai consulate.

221g - got VISA

My dad got his VISA finally. Thanks to everyone who is posting his/her relations experiences in this site .
Thanks newyorker and Tina, Your posts were very helpful as your cases are similar to my dad's case.

He will send his passport next week to get it stamped. The status of the case is "Send PPT".

I checked the chennai US consulate website and there is no special section for "Send PPT". I see one for "Send PPT and DD".

Since the consulate removed the DD fee, I guess we need to just send the passport, a copy of the pink slip (221 g letter) and the Rs 155 service fee for passport. Can anyone tell me if we need to submit any other documents? Do we need to submit the DS 156 and other documents again? If we have to submit these documents, can we change the travel plan dates as the original dates are no longer valid or do we need to send the old documents itself?

“Send Passport & DD”: Each case will have specific instructions about the documents that an applicant is required to send.

* Please take the pink 221g letter with you while submitting your documents at the VFS office if you are submitting it in person. If you are mailing it to VFS, attach a copy of your pink 221g letter.
* Send in all necessary documents marked “Attention: CHENNAISAO” using VFS Services, Tel: 044-42316767, www.vfs-usa.co.in. The service fee of Rs.155/= per passport (inclusive taxes) is payable in cash or by DD/HDFC Bank Check favoring “HDFC Bank a/c VFS”.
* If you’ve been asked to send an itinerary with the passport, please attach proof that your travel plans are still valid and necessary.
