  • Re Application For Parents - Need Help

My parents have been denied for the visitor visa in Aug 2006. now I want to reschedule it again. Earlier I have taken appointment for both of them together. now, Is it required that I have to take the appointment for both of them together only? I am thinking of taking appointment one by one for my father and mother. will it help? the visa has been denied under section 214 (b) earlier. i.e. not having enough strong ties reason.

If you can help me in this then it will be great.

      Jayesh,

If you are going to mention 'Tourism' as the purpose of the visit, it is advisable to have your parents apply together. (Tour/Vacation is considered as a 'family' event - just one person will not go for a vacation typically). But, I have seen a lot of people trying independently for mom and dad and get successful. Not sure which strategy is working better these days.

Experience of a couple that I know from my home town:
Mom mentioned that she is going alone since dad is working and he did not get enough leave at his work. Mom was issued the visa. Dad applied a month later. When asked why his wife is not accompanying (wife is a housewife), he said 'she is sick and hence can not travel'. But, in reality, if a person's wife is sick and bed ridden, how could he go on for vacations. Dad's visa was rejected.

Based on the above example, I suggest you to come up with nice reasons for your parents to appear for interview separately. Also, ask them to mention a very short time frame for the stay in USA (ex: 2 months). 'Dad did not get leave' is a good reason for dad, but for mom having an unmarried son/daughter might sound like a better reason than being sick. So, the approach should be different for different scenarios. Please plan accordingly and choose the best bet you may have.

      Good luck to your parents!!

      - Jaya.
