  • DS156 form mistake in name - please advise

When I was downloading all the forms to send to India for my parents visa, I noticed that I made a typo in the first name of my father and mother in ds156 form. My fathers name is xxxnair in passport and I added a space between xxx and nair in the form. Same error I made in my mom's name too. There is no way to get this corrected in ds156 as those fields are non editable. Can some one suggest what is the best to do at this point? Their visa was rejected once on 214 B. Could this create problems for my parents during interview. I wanted to do everything perfect and ended up this way. Their inteview in just 4 weeks away.

As long as all the other details are in tact, an extra space in the first name is not a problem. I don't think this would be a cause for rejection as long as the interview goes smooth. Ask your parents to inform this to the visa officer at the time of interview and the visa officer will correct it for them.

I am not sure if it is advisable to inform it to the visa officer 'before' the interview or 'during' the interview or 'after' the interview. I hope others with similar experience will reply back to you on this aspect.

    Good luck!!

Dont worry thats okay. Generally such mistakes are corrected in the first counter (for Chennai consulate) where DS156 and 157 are collected. Just tell your parents to inform those ppl
