Working in Canada but want to apply for US tourist Visa

Hi all,

I am not a Canadian citizen but currently working in Canada (under working visa valid for 6 months - single entry).

I want to apply for US tourist visa... what's the probability of being approved by the US embassy?

What is your nationality?

If the purpose of visit is casual, most likely, you will be asked to apply in your home country. This is because a 6 month work contract in canada
does not ensure that you will return to canada.

If you were in canada for a longer term like 2 years, chances would be better.

I'm from Philippines and its harder to apply there. That's why I wanted to try to apply in the Vancouver US consulate.

My work contract states that my project in Canada is for 1 year but I have to exit Canada after 6 months because my work permit is W1 type. But I will go back in Canada to renew my Canada visa. Im in my 3rd month in Canada now.

Do you think I have less chance of being approved?

My purpose is to visit the nearby US states/city like Seattle Washington or Portland Oregon during weekends since its just around 3 to 4 hours drive from Vancouver.

If it is hard in philippines, you can give it a try.
Luck plays some role in getting a US visa so you may get lucky with
a lenient officer.
You may be asked about your ties to phillipines, what you plan to do after your work is over in canada. Just try to answer in a way so the officer
is conviced that you plan to settle in phillipines and not in canada or US.

I do not know about that. You have to ask the canadian port of entry people.

Between Canada and US, you can travel multiple times with Single entry visa. Confirm with consulate also.

yes I checked the canadian embassy website that its allowed.

"A single entry visa allows you to enter Canada only once. If you have a valid USA visa and are visiting the USA on your trip to Canada, the visa may also be used for repeated entries into Canada from the USA within the time allowed for your stay in Canada.
