Is DS-157 necessary?

Friends,

Is DS-157 necessary for parents? Last time my Mom's (age 64) visa was rejected (in Oct-06). At that time we submitted both DS156 & 157. I am confused because VFS site says DS157 is not necessary for age > 55 for Ladies. But Immihelp states that it is mandatory irrespective of Age for both Male and Female Tourist Visa applicants. I am planning to reapply the Visa appointment.

Could you please tell me where does it say on immihelp DS-157 is required for all ages? If it says somewhere, we would like to correct it immediately.

The information we have about DS-157 is at /us-visa-and-immigration-forms/ds-157.html
It says that DS-157 is not necessary for persons older than 55, male or female.

Now I checked details and it shows the correct details of the date range us <55 years. But during the earlier appointment (I did it during Aug or Sept - 2006) in which my Mom got rejected, I was checking the same info and in that ALL applicants irrespective of age. I guess this correction has been made as per consulate's advise later.

If I have over looked, I am really sorry about that and thanks a lot for your kind update. Now I am clear that I have to use only the DS-156.

We earlier had the text that said 'DS-157 required for all applicants irrespective of age and gender' because that is exactly what they required. We had also sent them an email and confirmed.

They have changed the requirement recently and therefore we updated the page again.

I was reading the forum and wasn's sure that Now in Dec2006 onwards, is D-157 required for Men only ?
My mother in law is less than 55 ..so does she requires a D-157?

I have not heard about any such change in the requirements for DS-157.

Currently, it is required for all applicants between ages of 15 to 55.
