Hello,
Interview was in hindi at chennai consulate.
1'st experience:
My parents had a interview last week on the 7'th, we had all the documents in place according to this website and my father has business here ,so he had all his tax returns and photographs..We knew that they would get the visa since my brother is in India and my grand parents also stay with them..but...
The VO asked the following questions:
1-Who is in US?
2-How many children do you have?
3-What do you do?
My father answered all the questions correctly. Then the officer asked for the property documents, and my father gave the deed of our house..although he had a notarized affadavit stating all our assets , my father did not give him that since he thought if he did not ask for it why should he? This proved to be wrong, the VO did not even bother to ask for any other documents since the deed did not have the value in it. It was very surprising he was extremely rude and did not bother to use the basic principles that they are taught...even though they keep saying the they are extremely well trained and smart, some of them are but not all..The interview did not last 2 mins..and the VO just rejected the visa.
2'nd experience
We scheduled another interview immediately next week that is today Nov. 17'th. Everyone said that why so soon..but my husband and I were determined that we had all the documents and enough proof to convince them so why should we wait. My father only showed what he was asked to as we had trained him so its not his fault either its completely the officer's fault for not questioning him further since my father already said that he has a son here , his parents and a business...it doesn't get any better. Anyways here's what happened today... My parents went in had there finger prints taken...and then waited in line...and to their surprise it was the same officer who had rejected them the last time...they got a little nervous...just as they approached the window...there was one couple ahead of them...the officer left..and then an american officer called them at his window with a interpreter. He asked the following questions,
1- Who is U.S?
2-Why are you going to U.S?
3-What do you do?
4-What does your son do?
This time my father gave a detailed explanation of his business like when it started and why they want to go in Feb (we had mentioned that, since my father's is less busy in his business from feb-may). Thats it he did not look at any single document not even our papers (we have a green-card) and he said you got your visa. My parents just could not believe that it happened so easily. This time the officer was patient ,polite , listened to all the answers and asked questions accordingly.
KEY:
-Be confident doesn't matter how many times your visa is rejected ...it all depends on the officer...thats all I can say from our experience.
-If you have anything to stress on like my father has his son ,his parents and his business...say it as soon as you get a chance and in as much as detail as you can without getting annoying.
-If they ask for a document give them all that you have in that category... like in our case he asked for property docs my father should have given affadavit, house and business docs instead he only gave house deed. There is very little time that you get so have to really act fast. I know its difficult since you are so nervous...but thats what all our parents need to work on.
I am only saying this based on our experience, it all depends on the situation you are in.
I thank Immihelp for having all the information I needed. Keep it up!!
Good-luck to all !!! Always say your prayers..!!
Be confident...don't get disheartened if you dont get the visa...keep trying..its a different ball game altogether the next time you go.
I am so happy today...
