B-2 extn denied but within I-94 period

Does the 10yr visa get cancelled for a person if the B-2 extn is denied within the original I-94 period and the person leaves the U.S after the denial letter but within the original I-94 expiry date? From what i see only the extension is denied and NOT the current stay. Can someone clarify on this?
