My parents got visa today (Nov 30) at Chennai consulate. I am the only daughter and we were a bit worried about this. But, the whole process went smoothly althought it took almost 3:30 hrs for them to come out of the consulate.
Here are the questions asked to my parents:-
My Parents: Good Afternoon
VO : Good Afternoon, How are you.
By now, my parents were keeping the sponsor and visitor docs ready. On the sponsor docs I had put a big label saying sponsor docs. So, he asked them for that file. He was seeing the docs and also asking the questions simultaneously.
VO: Why do u want to go to USA?
My parents: Tourism and visit daughter and son-in-law and spend sometime with them.
VO: (To my dad) What were you working as and when did u retire
Dad: xxxxxx
VO: Do u have any properties
Dad: Explained...yes, we have xxx,xxx,....do u want to see the docs
VO: No, its ok...Where does you daughter work
Dad: xxxxxxx
VO: Whats her designation?
Dad: xxxxxxxx
VO: Did you daughter send the original birth certificate from USA?
Mom: Yes, she had taken it for the GC and job purposes.
VO: (Carefully looks at my degree certificate and GC copy) Whats is the visa status of your daughter
Mom: GC Holder
VO: How many kids do you have?
Mom: (Very nervous with this question) Only one daughter
VO: OK, you have been granted visa...you need to come back before 6 months...
Mom: we have prepared affidavit that we will come back...Do u want to see it?
VO: No Mam...Have a nice trip...
I had prepared my parents with all questions from the other posts in this website and it really gave them lot of confidence to attend the interview...Also I had put a post-in all the documents so that they can easily know what is what. This website helped a lot in preparing all the documents...
Also, my parents mentioned that VFS staff was very curteous..
