      I am sending photocopy

I know 2 friends who didn't send their original birth certificate who got visa in last 1 month, So going to follow what they did.

Also it is not one of the Mandatory Document.

Can 10th Class DOB certificate will work?

since neither me or nor my parents have the birth certificate....can they use 10th class DOB proof???
its just impossible for us to get the certificate since that hospital where I was born is not is existence any more.

what is the best way of going forward??!!!

Birth Certificate is not for DOB

Birth Certificate they are asking is for proof that the people who are saying that they are your parent are indeed your parents.

So the 10th Class certificate will not work for that matter. I had specifically checked with 2 friends whose parents got visa in last 1 month from Delhi and another from Calcutta and they were not aware about the Birth Certificate need so they didn't even send the photocopy.

For your Green Card process you have to get the Birth Certificate, No excuse there.

I think for Parent's visiting visa, I don't really need to send my original Birth Certificate and you may even fine with not sending anything as most likely this documents comes into picture only if they think there is some kind of fraud.

Most importantly check with your friends whose parents have got visa recently or if they know someone who got visa recently and check if any of them have taken Birth Certificate of any copies of it.

I am actively trying to find from as many people as possible, So will report back here.

          Good luck!

            Thanks

If that's the case then the entry in my passport wherein it says father's and mother's name should be enough.

A very BIG Thanks for your input. I will try to find out from my friends too.

            Wish you good luck too

You do need the original birth certificate, If the interview is at Mumbai consulate then it is a required ducument.

You do not need to get the certificate from the hospital but from the municipal office of the city where you were born. If they are not able to locate it then you
are given a certificate indicating it was not found.

At this point you have two options.

              1) Get an sworn affidavit (stamp paper and notarized) from two people who were present at the time of birth (mom n dad will do) stating that such and such gave birth to you at this date and time and place.

              2) Pay fine for late registration at the municipal office and get a certificate.
