  • mother(widow) got visa in 2nd attempt with misspelled name...please help

My mother got her visa (10 years) in her second attempt. My joy shotlived after i came to know that her name is misspelled in visa. Her name in passport is "malathi" In visa it is "malati". Only one letter H is missing. This happened because her name was misspelled in I-156.

Can we ignore this as a minor mistake.

Is she is going to face any problem at POE. I am concerned as my mother cannot speak english to explain to the officer.

If we can ignore this problem with what name I have to book her ticket?
If I have to correct this what is the procedure I have to follow?
    Please Help....

    Hi

I think its a good idea to bring this to the US Consulate's attention before buying tickets/travelling. The consulate will reissue visa with the right name. The consulate will not reject her visa when you go for name correction as visa was issued based on her ability to satisfy ties to home country and her name spelling has nothing to do with it.
