  • new outrageous procedures at vfs mumbai

My parents have an appointment later this month at Mumbai and we recently learned that one cannot mail supporting/interview documents to vfs anymore, you have to either hand-deliver them or have someone else do that for you.

So my father travelled 500km just to hand deliver the documents. There VFS declined to accept the documents because they were not happy with the pictures. The photos were done by a professional photographer and all the instructions according to USCIS guidelines were given to him.

The vfs people had their photographer snap my dad's picture, but my mother's picture is still required and now she is supposed to travel to mumbai just for the sake of that.

I find this entire procedure very ridiculous and inconsiderate. If you want hand delivered documents for every visa applicant, why not open more stations throughout the state that would accept such applications. In Maharashtra, there is only 3 places: Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad. Why was Nagpur excluded?

Anyone had similar experiences? And how did you deal with it?

yes, it is very wierd , my parents had the same issue with the photo, so my dad got a snap from mumbai, but my mom did not go to mumbai, but the photgrapher tried taking similar photo as my dad, in my home town.

BTW : I am trying to get the interview dates, the VFS site says "No dates Available" .. How did you get an interview date ?

Also few months back we could send the docs through the courier service, is that option not anymore?

Please reply to my questions soon if possible.
    Thanks

i just talked to a representative at mumbai consulate so according to her anyone(your friend or relative) not necessary applicant can bring the docs to mumbai consulate. She said they are not accepting via courier.

Yes, I am also trying to get an appointment for my parents. Infact I got a email from VFS stating that currently there are no dates available for Mumbai. Let me know if you get any. I have heard that you need to keep checking.

The procedure was that you could submit the documents at any VFS center..i.e. Mumbai, Pune or ....don't remember the 3rd place...Do we need to hand deliver to Mumbai Consulate or VFS Center??
