  • Mum was refused B2 visa - please help

    Dear Sir,
Hi! I got my US student visa but shortly after that I was disabled with a stroke. I am one of the youngest people in the world to get a stroke being only 20. I still don't want to give up my goals and want to study. My mother applied for a B2 visa so that she could go to the US and look after me while I study in the US.

My mother had all the papers requested from her, like fee reciept, evidence of my condition, DS-156, DS-157, Solicitor letter of my dad stating he would provide financially, my passport photocopy. So why did my mom not get her visa?

She applied on the 2nd Jan 2007. She was told that she could not recieve it at that time, so she should apply again. It was refused on 214 ( b ). Although I am disabled I want to study and do something, so my mother has agreed to come and look after me. I have to be in the US soon.

As normal housewife in Nepal, she does not have anything under her name so economic ties are very hard to prove. The only thing she has is land worth 5-6 lakhs. My dad looked after mom and sent money. The relational ties that she has is that my sister is studying at a boarding school and my mother looks after her when she comes for holidays. She has a mother who is dependant on her for care. She has 12 brothers and sisters who are all very close to her and so would like to come back to Nepal to be with them soon.

My university is starting from the 17th of Jan.

My mother's passport was not stamped.

Will my mother be able to apply again within a few days?
Are the ties good enough, like her daughter and mother and some economic?
What should my mother be aware of?
    What advice do you have?

    Rajesh

*Please post your mother's interview in Q and A form
whatever she recalls, and however minor. Also what documents did the officer actually look at?

That way we can analyse what the reason for denial was.

*What does your father do? What is his annual income? Does he live with your mother?
