  • Question about visitor visa

    Hi,
My wife has obtained a Business visa(B1) from her company. She will be sponsoring me and my son for a visitors visa. We are going to the consulate on the 20th of Jan(chennai) for our interview. She has also obtained an appointment for her parents on the same day. We are worried if they will grant us all a visa, since my wife will be sponsoring her parents and myself. Other options we have are

    1. Ask my brother in law to sponsor her parents. My BIL is already on a H-1 visa in USA.
    2. My wife's brother who is in germany will sponsor their trip to the US.
Please let us know which option would be better. Thanks in advance for all your advice.

    Thanks,
    Harish.

How can someone on a B1 sponsor someone else? Who gave you this idea?

Is she already in US? Or is she in India?

Currently she is in India. Our child is just 5 months old. She will be going to the US in the next few months. So myself and my child are applying for a visitor visa on the basis of going for tourism and then joining my wife and returning with her.

It seems you are not very familiar with the visitor visa criteria. The officers look for some strong tie present in India to who the applicant will come back. If all of you apply to go, you will be suspect not to return to India and will be denied.
Same with her parents. Please tell your BIL to sponsor his parents at some
        other time not accompanying her.
I strongly advise you to let her make her business trip first.
You and your child can apply later for a visitor visa; if you have money ,
you can self sponsor or your BIL can sponsor you.

It is always better to leave some member of the family in India while applying
so the officer is conviced that you have a family tie to who you will come back.
