  • Sponsoring my Uncle's Famiily to attend marriage in US....

My dad would like to sponsor my uncle's family in india who are53 years old, wife: 50, Son: 12 years old. My dad is US Citizen. The reason we are sponsoring my uncle and his family is because my marriage in August 2007. What are the chances of Visa for my uncle. I am reading posts and I see parents and spouse visas, I did not find anything on anyone's expeirence regarding obtaining visitor visa (B2) for Uncle/Aunty and their son (10 years old). Can you provide your feedback!

The most important issue in the officer's mind when interviewing for a visitor visa is to assess if the applicant(s) is/are likely to return home after the trip.
If the whole family is applying and if there is a US citizen sibling sponsoring, likelihood of them not returning to India increases, and the chances of a successful app go down. On the other hand such an application can be successful too if the occupational ties of your uncle and aunt in India are
really strong and they are rich.In that case they should
show that they will spend their own money for the trip and your dad should only send an invitation letter and the wedding card to your uncle.

If you think your uncle's occupational ties to India are not very strong /they are not very well off and your dad will have to send an affidavit of support, I'd advise only half the family to apply for example ( aunt and son or only aunt).

      Uncle...

      Thanks for the reply!

My uncle's income is only around Rupees 60K for whole year, so its very low. My aunty does not work. And my cousin is only 12 years old. They do not have to file tax due to low income for year.

What can I or my dad do to make sure they can all come here. They will go back in 1 month for sure.

If I have to show my uncle can afford the trip by himself? Does he have to make very high salary? Can he just show bank balance such as 16 lakh or whatever to state he can finance his own trip for everyone?

      Please reply!

Good income is very important to show that they are spending their own money and to show good ties to India. At his income it is not advisable to do that.
Just telling the officer, that you will return to India surely is not enough.
The officer looks at your back ground and I do not think it is favourable.

The best they can do is your aunty can apply alone and your dad can send sponsorship papers for her. All of them should not apply again.
