Please help in DS-156 question

Hi

We are inviting my mom to US and sent all the documents to India and visa date is very near. Now my parents noted that my dad's DOB is wrong. I can edit it but we do not have sufficient time to send the document to India. What can we do now?

In the DS-156 form we entered my husband's name as the person filled the application. Now if we take another printout that needs my husband's signature and then we have to mail it but do not have ample time. Can we change the name of the person who filled the application from my husband to my dad? So that they can take a printout and my dad can sign. Is it wrong doing like this? Will the consulate question about this? Will it be a problem for my mom getting visa? Kindly help me, as this is very urgent.

When i wrote to VFS application center for interview at Mumbai consulate regarding changing information on DS-156, they responded back to me stating that not to make any change by pen ...but if they have an appointment at Mumbai Consulate...when they go to submit their docs ..they should inform the VFS officer and they will do the needful. I am assuming they will ask to change it in front of them.

As far as someone else preparing the form is concerned...though someone else prepares the form..the applicant is still responsible for the information on it. I don't think it will matter if is changed as per the above...method...and you may not have to send another form.

Depends on where they have the appointment. Also you could write to the VFS center and ask them ...giving them where they have an appointment...and they are usually very good at responding. I got the response the next day.

Thank you. My mom got her visa appt at Chennai consulate. Yeah I too thought like that since vfs told me that you can do the modifications from 14th question. But my only concern was will that matter who filled the application. Now I am going to change the name and tell them to take a print out.
