  • Visitor visa for aunt

    Hi ,

    My aunt's visa got rejected the first time (214b). She does not have any children and she is a widow, and she stays with my parents and my grandfather.

    This time I am trying again. Now the circumstances have been changed a bit.
    Now She has bought a shop and is planning to do small business there. Also she runs various arts classes like painting, knitting.. cooking classes.. which I have not mentioned in my previous time.

    Is this a good thing to state? What else can I do to increase her chances of getting VISA. She only wishes to come for 4 to 6 weeks. Her age is 61.

    How do we make the officer believe that she is not an potential immigrant.

    Thanks,

    Widows with no children in India ususally have a hard time getting a visa.

    Showing an occupation will improve her chances but she must do her homework;

    They will surely ask her several questions about her shop;
    1. How long has it been running?
    2.How many employees?
    3.How much business does she do with the shop?
    4. Who will be running the shop while she is gone?

    I suggest she should first do business with the shop for at least a year.
    Employ 1-2 people. Get it registered with the govt. Show good income
    , file a tax return. If she really starts to do very good business, she can even apply for a B1 visa( business purpose related to the shop) and you won't need to sponsor her. Business purpose is always better than tourist purpose.

    If she applies a few months after opening the shop, the officers will think the
    shop is a ploy to get the visa and she will lose the advantage of all the hard work she put in.

      Thanks peace,

      But I want to get her in early. Regarding tax, since she is a senior citizen over age 60 , she need not worry about tax.

      Also once the stop starts she can't come here. Also she has a partner in the shop who can take care while she is here. Right now they have started doing business of selling sarees at home itself.
