Help - self sponsored option in DS-156 form

Hi,

My parents have mentioned in DS-156 form against the question "Who Will Pay For Your Trip?" as Self. But my parents are going to bear the flight tickets to and fro, so is it necesary to add below Self that "we will bear flight tickets and rest expenses within US my son will bear". or can they just write self and explain during the interview if asked.
we will be sending I-134 form, bank statements and pay stubs to them.
Also second question is do we have to show a fixed amount of 5k per person in the bank statement or we can just show average of some amount spread across months in the bank statement
please reply asap, the interview is in March

there is no need to explain anyhng in form DS-156 if you have mentioned self.In case you planning to attach a cover letter then you can mention there that they will be staying with you so you will bear their lodging expenses.

you can show average of some amount spread..there is no problem but large amount of money (eg 4-5 laks to show balance)shoud not have been deposited recently..i mean there shoud be a sequence..like it happens in slaried account..
