  • Visitor Visa - New Passport

    Hello All,

My mom has 10 yr multiple Visitor visa to USA. She was here last year and I want her to be here this summer as well. Her passport is getting expired on June 10th, 2007. I am going to India sometime in first week of June. I want her to tag along me so I would like to make her ticket booking as well.

    Here are my questions:

What should be the passport number that I should give my travel agent while making the booking. (She will anyways be coming in after June 10th only). And also We applied for a renewed passport

And at the port of entry should she be carrying both her old passport and new passport with her. Coz, I would assume the renewed passport that she will get will not have her B2 visa stamped on it.

Other than the old passport, does she need to carry anything else and what kinda problems do you think she may face at the port of entry?

Thanks for all the help you may extend...

She should use new passport (and number) for all purposes from now on.

She should carry old passport just because there is US visa sticker in it.

    Should not have any problems.

      * The travel agent will need the new passport no. because that is the one she will be traveling on but only at the time of purchasing the actual ticket, which she can do when she gets her new passport.
One does not need to provide the passport no at the time of making a booking.

*She will have to carry the old passport as well, quite obviously, because that has the visa and one cannot enter US without a visa.

*Other issues; if she did not overstay her last visit, and she deposited her
I94 with the airline staff, while leaving US, there will not be any problems.

Provide the current passport information now and update it before traveling with the new one by calling the airline or the agent. Sometimes you can edit it online as well.
