  • Help needed..B-2 Visa rejected for the second time..

    Hello all,
My mother attended her B-2 visa interview yesterday. She got rejected for the second time on the grounds of 214(b). Both I and my sister live here in US. I am a student while my sister is married to a H-1B guy and is on a H-4 dependent visa. She quoted that she wanted to attend my graduation ceremony this May and then meet my sister and spend 2 months in US. Also, she stays alone in Chennai. She is a pension holder. As she was not able to show any strong ties, her visa has been denied for the second time. She actually said that her aged parents are living with her. But that didn't help either.

I am very much shocked, depressed and clueless that her visa has been denied again. So is my mother. I don't know how she will get her visa the next time. I don't know what kind of reasons, I can give for her to show strong ties in India. This time we showed enough financial properties and assets worth 30-40 lakhs besides a very valid reason for her to visit US. But it didn't help at all. How should I deal with this matter next time. Has anyone had similar experiences?

The gap between her first and second interview was 4 months. I thought I can ask her to apply again in the next 10 days so that she can attend my graduation. She has also bought tickets. But I don't know if she would get if I am going to apply so soon.

Your suggestions, opinions and advice on this matter would be very helpful. Eagerly looking forward to your help.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Prasad.

No applying again is suicidal. That will show that she is desperate to come here. Wait for atleast 6 months to 1 year before applying again.

Next time when she goes, ask her to self sponsor and show some family/business ties back in India.

What about yr dad ? You didnt mention anything about him in yr post.

      Sponsorship and Questions

      Hey rama44ste,

Could you please tell me who sponsored your mother and what were the questions asked?. Did u disclose both of you are in USA. May be thats where the VO felt that ur mother could be a potential immigrant. Wll im also almost the same case. So I would appreciate if u can tell em the questions and who sponsored her?

      Thanks,
      Chandru

Well, my dad is no more. My mother is a pension holder. She showed documents that she is sponsoring herself in this interview. She showed assets and deposits
worth 30-40 lakhs. But still she got rejected. We discolsed the fact that both of us are in US. The VO said that since both me and my sister are in US, it is difficult for her to believe that she will be back in 2 months and so is rejecting her.

Well, its pure luck the next time. I am in the same Situation as you r (Parents Rejected 2 times due to 214 b - both me and my brother are here. I am waiting for another year before reapplying. Even that is not sure if they will get the Visa again. But atleast that will show that they are not desperate)

But to have more chances for yr mom, wait for atleast 6 months to 1 year and ask her to self sponsor and show some family ties back in India. If she is lucky she will get it next time. Good Luck.
