hey guys i was just browsing through the internet and i saw this website which i think is quite interesting and helpful.
im from pakistan and i wanted to ask that i have been issued a b1//b2 visa twice before once in 1997 for an year and then in 2000 for 5 years. these are the only 2 times i have applied all togther. iam planing to visit the US agian in my summer holidays this year so just wanted to ask that according to the new rules that the us embassay has adopted do i have any chances of gettin a visa in my age. ill be 21 soon.
note that i have never overstayed in the usa and the last time i went i spent 3 and a half weeks and i was allowed 3 months.

any suggestions would help as i dont know what they look at these days coz the last time i got visa was 7 years back
i m a student currently and my parents are both in pak. im thier only child and im gona travel alone they r staying at home.

A lot depends on your purpose of visit and source of funds.

*What is your actual purpose of visit and who will be paying for the trip?
*Do you have any relatives in US ? On what visas?
*What does your dad do in Pak and what is his annual income?

well the purpose of my visit is just tourism . i love travelling and i usually go abroad after every 2 years. i spend 3-6 weeks every time and visit uk and usa as i only have relatives in these countries. i mean close relatives.
yes my first cousin live in usa. they are canadaian citizens and work in usa and lives with his family.
my is a GM and a shareholder of the company he is working for and his annual income is around 12-14 lacs.

Your family situation is favourable for the visa. A vaild UK visa
and a history of US trips will be favourable too.

Another important thing is your student /employment status in India.
If you have none of these , you should not apply. If you have one of these two, you should provide letters from your college or your job describing
ongoing enrolment in college or leave from job.

With your dad's good income you can say he is paying for your trip and you should show his income and business .documents.

            thnx alot for ur replies

yes im currently studying in pakistan in one of the very well reputed institutions. my grades have been good thruout and i even got a schlorship which is based on merit not need.

will a letter from m y college showin im a regular student and my degree gettin year
plus 6 months bankstatements and property valuation certificate be wnuff documents. i believe that if u have a couple of good documents thts better than carrying a whole bunch of useless documents.

and one more thing.... do my previous visis to the USA perform as a good thing or not? i ve been 4 times so far with a gap of 2 years between each trip and the most i spent was 2 months..

do they also look at travel history of other contries? coz at our age we dont really have strong ties of or own so will all these help?

            thanx

Before the 9/11 attacks on New York , anyone having visited US once without overstaying was mostly guaranteed the second visa without another interview (drop box facility). They discontinued the drop box in 2004.

Things have changed so much now. I have read some reports of people being denied after having visited a couple of times on their 10 yr visa!!!!

I personally think the visitor visa system is bad now; it is inconsistent
and rash, one has to depend on luck even with the best of background.

The best you can do is not to leave any weak points in your application.
Everything else is fine but your casual purpose of visit bothers me. Looking at your age and single status, it could be a negative point.
Since you are a good student, can't you arrange to participate in a fair or a seminar related to your study course. That could be very favourable.

                thnx for the reply.

well i didnt know about arranging a seminar or something and i cant change it now coz ive already submitted my forms. so any changes now now will make it complicated. and about casual visit well they could doubt my intentions if it was my first time travelling but since ive been goin abroad alot and sometimes with my sometimes sometimes alone so i dont think that theres anything wrong in it and plus its not that i go a several times in a year that would be strange for my age but going once after 2-3 years shudnt be a problem i guess.

still iam asking u again that does previous travel history and a good record on that help in a good way?

and about strong ties in pakistan

well my parents are here, and being thier only child i dont think i have to prove more that im gona come back . becuase i cant just go away and abandon them thats not possible.

im in the middle of making my carrear and i cannot just leave everything and stay there

and the other thing is that if i ever had to stay i cudve gone before the expiry of my last visa that wasnt too long ago.

so i hope they consider all these points

Yes, like I said in a previous reply that your US visits will be favourbale and a valid UK visa and visit history will be very favourable. I wish you the best of luck.

If you will say to the officer that you are visiting a relative, you will need an invitation letter from him/her. He/she should send a copy of his/her visa/gc/passport and write their visa status in US, his/her relation to you and that he/she is inviting you for vacation- for ------months. Make sure the period of stay you ask for in the form and at the interview matches your leave time from college. You will have to provide your host's address on form DS 156, the application form for visitor visa.
