rejected visa why???

Hello,

My in-laws had a telugu interview at the chennai consulate on 25th April.
They were asked the following questions
How many children?--- 3 sons(1 in US and 2 in India)
What r they doing?---(ZZZ)
How much pension do u get?---(Rs. YYYY )
How much property do u have?---(X number of houses)

The interviewer dint ask for any document, be it the property document or the documents of the sponsorer. After these four questions, they were told that their visa is rejected under 214b(potentially immigrant).

What could be the actual reason for rejection? Kindly let us know so that we can prepare them well for the next one which we are planning this month.

There could be two reasons;
*All sons in India. If they had an unmarried daughter in India, they had better chances.
*low pension which means bad financial ties with India thus more likelihood
to stay in US.

*What do the sons in India do?
*Did their son in US send an I-134 ?
*What is the visa status of the son in US?
*Is retired dad working somewhere? In business or in another job?
If not, is he able to start something?
