  • US Tourist visa to relatives

Please share experiences of applying tourist visa to relatives like aunt or uncle in the family who just want to visit us and have no children here in USA.
I would like to know the chances of them getting the visa, if they have a different last name from the sponsorer. Thanks in advance

If they have good family, occupational and financial ties in India , they will be fine.

    Please provide the following info;

What do they do in India?
    What is their annual income?
How many children in INdia? what ages?
What is your visa status/ job status in US?

It is for my mothers sister.
      she is a widow
she has property on her own in india (house, agriculture land) etc.
She has 3 children and all are in india only. ages 35, 37, 40. They all are married and are in good financial position.
I have a GC here and working.

Being a widow may be a problem. But she has good family ties in the form of children, so she stands a fair chance and must apply.

        TIPS:
*Does she have any income from her land? If it is DOCUMENTED 7-8 lacs per year, she should show self -financing the trip.
If not, does any one of her children have that kind of family income?
If yes, she should show that the child is paying for the trip.

*Also, it would help if she could show some occupational ties to India.
If she has always been a housewife, she should take up a position with a local community organization in some capacity and get a letter from them as evidence.

*She should ask for a stay of about 3 months which is not too long , not too short.

*If she is self financing , all your sister needs to send is an invitation letter and a copy of her passport and visa status.
If she herself or her child is not financing , your sister will have to send an I-134 with financial docs.
