221(g) processing time for visitor visa in mumbai consulate

i am new member...I have a question if you ppl can help me ...
My inlaws went for interview on 18th April 2007 for Visitor visa ....my Mother inlaw got 10years visa without any question but my father inlaw got 221(g) ...actually my Father in law is engineer and he works in chemical company ..its small private company in tarapur ..but my fahter inlaw is not chemical engineer he is electrical engineer .....he is nothing to do with any chemical process in company ...than also VO told him to email his CV and questionaire ..we did that ..we mailed them on 22nd April 2007 ...and we got reply from them on 24th April 2007 and asked my inlaw to email his parents full name after that we didnt recieve any message from them now its almost one month
so i want to know what is normal processing time for case under 221(g) in MUMBAI CONSULATE ??? should we call them and ask them about our case ? because last week my inlaw called to VFS office and they said it will take time but you can go to consulate and ask them about your case ...
what you say guys ?? we should call them or my inlaw should personally go there and ask VO ?
Can you please advice me here. Any suggestions, experiences greatly appreciated.
