  • Confused about arrangement of Visa documents

    Hi,

My parents are going for B1/B2 visa interview in couple of weeks, and my question is regarding arrangement of documents.

*There are 2 sets of documents: 1)required documents and 2)supporting documents. Should my parents separate these 2 sets into different files and take?
*During the interview should my parents give all the documents together, so that visa officer will segregate and take necessary one OR should give only whatever the officer asks for? Most of my friends are saying that their parents gave all the documents and the officer has taken the necessary one from that. I don't know which is best way.

Thanks in advance for reading and answering my questions

As the name implies, REQUIRED documents are those the consular officer WILL go thru. The SUPPORTING documents can be used in case said officer asks for additional information/clarification. Keep them separate. Two envelopes would work fine - when your parents show up for the interview, provide the consular officer with the REQUIRED ones and keep the others handy.

Some consular officers get upset if they have to wade thru 20+ pages of documents just to find the DS156 and DS157 - and you don't want to start your interview on the wrong foot, right ?
