multiple entry question

hi,

my parents got their multiple visa last month for 10 years. do they need to visit the US within a certain time (eg. a year) or can they visit any time they want in the next 10 years?

It's actually a gray area here. Usually, it's a good thing to enter within the first six months of getting the visa. Else, they'll wonder why did you get the visa and not travel.

If there's a genuine reason for the delay, make sure the immigration officer at the port of entry knows of this next year when your parents come.

Keep ALL documents, ALL COPIES.

Dear WAITING TOO LONG, now you know why you've been waiting too long, because you do not respect other people and prefer personal remarks.

Please do show a link from a US government site that clearly says you can travel anytime within the 10 year period of having the visa issued.

Either way, I know what I'm saying, gathering information from reliable sources.

I used to work for AMERICAN CONSULATE in Chennai and Mumbai. Then I worked closely with a few lawyers and studied the inside information on how this system works.

So, in other words, I do know what I'm saying, do you?

I will show you that link when you show me the one that says that you have to travel within 6 months. These requirements are only valid for H and L visa's

And I wait a long time before I can say that I know about something. I am not the one being vain here, you declared yourself to be Knowledgeable I was wondering about that just reading some of the answers you have been giving. As for your work with consulate, well I hope that did give you an urge to help people, not trouble them unnecessarily.

I think waiting too long is correct. Visitor visa means you can travel any time during visa validity period. I was under same impression and i know many people just take visitor visa and they travel whenever they want.

BUT if your visa expired and you never used that, then might be visa officer ask why you waste your visa.
