  • Smilee sticker on the applicaiton

At chennai consulate the assistants(They are employs of consulate ...but they are desi people) in the interview hall take the applications for verification and put it in folder and return to the applicants and ask them to stand in the queue.

My fried told me that, for some applicants they put a smilee face sticker" " on the checklist that they prepare and put in the folder. Smilee face means .... more questions from the VO.

    Has anyone observed this?

        LMAO

I bet at the end of the day some folks from the consulate read this forum and would have laughed their behinds off and fallen off the chair on reading this thread.

C'mon folks - lighten up. If a smiley sticker on a folder gets an applicant nervous - then something else is wrong there. Just take it easy - it is no big deal if refused - there are better things to do as an alternate to visiting the US -- Canada, West Indies for instance.

I did not say that the visa rejection is based on the smilee sticker. Its an indication to ask more questions. Here is why I asked this question

Last year I appeared for L1-B visa, I did not see any smilee sticker on my folder. The VO just asked couple of questions. At that time I did see that some folks have the smilee stickers on their folders.

Two months later one my colleague appeared for L1-B visa he observed the same thing and noticed that people who have smiless stickers are facing more questions from VO.

So, I am just trying to find out if anybody else observed the same.May be my friend's observation could be a coincidence.

Definetly the Visa officer will not grant the visa based on the sticker.

            smily sticker

I also has a smily sticker but very few general questions. Kindly stop sending rumors. All depend on VO mood and your luck + your and company background.

              >> All depend on VO mood and your luck.

I disagree. Honestly - do you really think the visa issuing process is that arbitrary and random? IIRC the VO has to validate with a proper reason and document why the visa was refused – we don’t get to see the details on reason for rejection, but it is documented at their end. Do you really think that – “I am not in a good mood today/Sorry – you have bad luck smeared on your head today – no visa for you!” works? Sure – there may be a percentage of applicants that get rejected when their applications were spic-and-span, that is unfortunate and I bet is only a miniscule percentage. For 99% of the rejections, I think the blame lies completely on the applicant/paperwork/responses/sponsor factors.
