  • Father's visa Rejected twice. Help !!

My father was rejected visa twice this year. First in March and Second time in June.

Both the times, not many questions were asked. 4-5 questions on the family status. Thats all. None of the documents were even reviewed.

My father is alone and that seems to be the main cause for the denial.
My sister is in India but married.

Please help me with any suggestions on what should I do next ?

    1. Will re-applying again in a couple of months do any good ?

    2. If I send my father and my sister to the consulate, will it help the case ?

    3. Is it true that the history in their systems is deleted after 6 months.
It is hard to believe this but I've heard about this from a couple of places.

    4. Will it help if my father tries for a Self-Sponsered application ?

    5. My father lives in the south. So Chennai consulate is the only option.
Is there any way he can attend in any other consulate apart from
    Chennai ?

    6. Will it be of any help if my cousin who is also in the US becomes the
sposor of the visa application instead of me ?

Are there any alternatives at all ?

    Thanks,
    Tilak.

Sir, I would have probably read this article atleast 10 times.

My case is a bit more complicated I guess and that article will not help me in any way.

Please help me with any specific suggestions.

I just want to get my father here for a couple of months. Neither me or my father are interested in living in US for a long time. But unfortunately they (US Consulate) are not ready to listen to this.

        Please provide more info;

*What do you do in US? your salary and your visa status?
How long have you been here?

*What does your father do in India? His documented annual income?

going with daughter for the interview, sponsorship from your cousin,
changing info thinking it would have been deleted in the system, going to
another consulate are all useless exercises.

However, self sponsorship can help , but it requires very good income in India.

Read through your earlier queries as well as this one.

          1. Will re-applying again in a couple of months do any good ?

You re-applied within 3 months of the earlier rejection...did not even use new documents. That means there was no change in your father's situation then. And it doesn't look like there is going to be any change in a couple of months. So why not wait a year or even longer before trying again? At least then he won't appear desperate to visit the US.

          2. If I send my father and my sister to the consulate, will it help the case ?

If his problem is his lack of binding ties to India then taking your sister with him is definitely not going to help prove otherwise.
If your sister has kids he needs to try and prove his ties to his grandchild/children and how much he contributes to his grandchild/children's day-to-day lives.

          3. Is it true that the history in their systems is deleted after 6 months.
It is hard to believe this but I've heard about this from a couple of places.

I don't know where people come up with such ideas. Is it so difficult for computerized records to be stored for longer than 6 months?

          4. Will it help if my father tries for a Self-Sponsered application ?

You could give it a shot. But you mentioned in an earlier query that he does not have a very high income. In that case a self-sponsored application would raise many questions. He should be ready to prove how he earned that kind of money. The slightest doubt that you put that money in his account could make things difficult for him.

And yes, even if it is a self-sponsored application, your father still needs to prove his social ties to India.

          5. My father lives in the south. So Chennai consulate is the only option.
Is there any way he can attend in any other consulate apart from
          Chennai ?

I am not sure it would work. And if that is possible then please understand that many people before him would have already tried that method. So the consulates would ensure the that computerized records are accessible to VOs from all US consulates in India.

          6. Will it be of any help if my cousin who is also in the US becomes the
sposor of the visa application instead of me ?

          Nope, sorry.
