My brothes visa got rejected

Hello All:
This is my first post here and I came to know from the sources that this forum is very helpful. My mom and brother went to Channai on Sep 21st for visitor visa, my mom got the visa but my brother's visa is rejected!! My mom is 77 year old widow and my brother is 45 years old and his whole family is in India, he just wanted to accompany my mom beccause she can't travel by herself! My brother answered all the quesions and told the officer he has kids, family, job, property, letter from company and everything but officer still rejected his visa with some code 214!! I don't understand why he rejected because my brother's case is genuine and he got vacation for 40days only and that's how long he and my mom were going to stay! I amm really disappointed what kind of logic the officers use there! Could someone please help me with some information? When can my brother go for visa again? Can he appear in next one month? What should he prepare SPECIAL next time? Please provide me any information.

this is just my guess...if the applicant is nervous due to some reason while answering the questions then the VO take it as there is something fishy...this might be the reason in case of your brother's visa denial.
I have heard that if the applicant sounds like he is desperate to go to USA then that is a negative.

May be you can give your brother some practice interviews before his next visa attempt.

I agree with you that this could be one of the reason in rejections, but from what I understood after talking to my brother is that he did well inhis interview. I also think it sometimes dependson the modd of the officer or just maybe luck factor i.e, end up in the hands of right officer!! Anyway, I can't change what happened but can you please tell me when he can apply again? I read somewhere here that he is eligible to apply after 3 business days! I don't know what else could be done right because all the supporting documents he had were strong and genuine!! I will keep in mind about preparing even better for interview next but if you have anything more,please let em know.

Opinions defer about when to reapply but if I were you then i would apply again as soon as possible since nothing is going to change in your brother's case if he applies now or after say 3,5 ,6,12 months..
after all as you also said that there might be a "luck factor" with getting visitor visa then why not try your luck again.
