  • My Parents in law got visa at first attempt

My parents in law went for interview at Chennai Consulate on 15th and got the visa. It was their first attempt. I am sponsoring their trip and I prepared the documents for them.
My FIL is retired Govt. officer and my MIL is still working, with about six more months of service. They have two children- my wife and an unmarried son who is a student in India. The interview was in English. They had arranged all the documents in tab files.
The CO was a male who was very nice to them.

My in laws handed over the passports, DS156, 157 etc to him.
The questions were mainly asked to my FIL and he gave detailed but precise answers.
    These were the questions asked:
    1. Why do you want to visit USA?
    2. How many children do you have?
    3. How long has been your son in law in US?
    4. How long has been your daughter in US?
    5. Are you working now?
    6. What is your son doing? (to my Mil)
    6. Are you employed? (to my MIL)
(Answering the question, she showed her leave sanction, employment certificate etc. The CO had a look at them and asked a question to her regarding the number of days the leave was granted. She answered and took out more documents to show him)
He smiled and said, "No more documents. You will get your visa within a week."

He didn't ask anything about their property documents, bank balance, invitation letter from our side, employment letter etc. My in laws were very confident and anwsered every question concisely.

Thanks a bunch, immihelp. Your website helped me a lot with the relevant documentations and answers for the interview questions.

    Thanks once again...
