I-94 Canada and India
US Border Patrol does not take your I-94 when you go to Canada. Unless of course, they've changed this recently. Previously they didn't collect on Canadian visit.
However, they will do so when you fly out to India.
Of course, if they do collect your I-94 when you go to Canada, make sure you request the same when you re-enter US.
Now, remember to take your other documents when you go to Canada. I assume you have Canadian visa.
Keep your return ticket to India with you and any other documentation that will show you have a place to stay in the US.
Good luck.

Almost six years ago when a friend of mine traveled to India, somehow he didn't get to turn in his I-94.. well when he returned to USA, the INS officer told him that he should have returned it but didn't make a fuss out of it and just issued him a new one. Apparently I-94 wasn't as big of a deal as having a valid visa and not over-staying in the USA (apparently he had an Exit-Stamp on his passport showing that he had left USA on a certain date).
