Birth certificate for sponsoror

Hello all,

I am in the process of sending sponsorship documents for my father's visitor visa. I noticed on the ImmiHelp document list that I should send my original birth certificate. Is this really needed? I only have the original affidavit that my parents sent me for my I-485 purposes. Will that suffice? Any advice is appreciated.

Yes but ...

Since it's only an affidavit and not the birth certificate itself, you're better off sending the original.

However, you may get a notarized copy made and keep with you, just in case.

For a birth certificate, yes you can send a notarized copy.
