  • Port of entry question

    Hello all,

I have a question about port of entry. My father's visitor's visa has been granted recently. I am the sponsor for my father's visa. I live in Detroit, Michigan. But my father is planning to land in New York and leave from Chicago due to planning issues. Is this going to be a problem, especially with port of entry? Will he be questioned as to why he is landing in New York even though I am in Detroit? Any suggestion is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    -vk4t

What are his plans? is he going to visit you? then he should show a plane ticket, bus ticket or whatever means of transportation he has to get to you.

Otherwise, just state the purpose of his visit, his visa is NOT limited to JUST visiting you.

      Hi,
I would say, though your father's visa is not limited to visiting you, the purpose what your father would say at the POE may play a vital role in the duration of his I-94.

Many people of business visit have got just 90days of permited stay.

Better if your father carry a itinerary of his entir trip to US, i.e., from New York, Chicago to visiting you in Detriot.

      Wish him Bon Voyage!

        Hi,

His visit is a purely tourist visit, not a business visit. As of now, my family members will be picking him up in NY and he will eventually be joining me in Detroit. There are no purchased flight tickets or anything for this internal travel.

Should he still list out his travel plans in a document just in case?

        Thanks,
