  • Question.37 in DS-156

I'm a green card holder and sponsoring my parents for first time. While filling the DS-156, I've answered the Question.37 (Person's Status in US) as 'U.S Resident' instead of 'U.S LPR'.

The appointment in on Dec 17. Should I modify the forms(both my father's and mother's on the website and the printed version) or is it ok?

    Thanks in advance.

It is OK. It doesn't matter if it is: "US LPR, US Resident, US Green Card holder".

H1 and L1 holders are US residents for the period of their deputation in US, they have their home address in US. US permanent resident is a different thing.

For the question posted by OP, US LPR will be a more appropriate answer since the person's legal status is asked about if the sponsor is not a US citizen.

But you can let the interviewing officer know about the slip beforehand and you dont need to change.

As long as you answered yes to question 37, it is not a big problem either way.

              Q 37 in ds156

For Q 37 in ds156, is it fine if the status for any one is filled (son/daughter) or should we mention the status of both?
