    date for visa interview

    When should I take the date for the interview, if i want to be in USA from April end to atleast august? If i go for the interview in January will the visa get stamped from that day onwards or later?

    Also i am confused as to which visa i have to apply for. I have an exam to be given there and my mom will be accompanying me. So will it be B1 or b2 or B1/B2?

    You will get stamped on that day or week. It will be valid from that week on... but depending on how well you convince the VO, you may get a visa for 10 years.

    Both you and your mother must apply for a B2 visa.
