I have a single entry visitors US visa that will expire on June 29. I would like to go to the USA on holiday on June 15 to June 22, will the immigration authorities be happy with me going so close to the expiry date of the visa?

There is no problem. You can enter any time up to last day and it is still possible they let you stay 6 months.
