Visitor visa, 2 rejections.

Dear people,
I'm a 28 year-old single English Teacher. In 2005 I went to USA for 1 year as an au pair , I made lots of american friends. Last year my parents gave me a trip to USA as a graduation present Well, I applied for a tourist visa in Dec. 07 and I was rejected. The consular officer (a girl) thought my friend was my boyfriend or something, she asked a lot of questions about him. He was just helping me with the invitation letter. So, I reapplied (changing destination and stay in hotel instead) and my visa was denied again on Feb 5th 2008. This VO said I need a permanent job and a bank account. (He's right though, I'm working on it)
- I was wondering if this is true or I will be punish for having a guy friend forever (actually have 5) and I'm never getting the tourist VISA for 3 weeks?
- Can I go with a different kind of VISA? cuz I still have my ticket and I could use it to go to a conference or something.

Fall under the B1/B2 visa category... it is known to consulates that most single women immigrate to the USA after entering on a visitor visa. They marry someone in the USA and file for Green Card.

Because of their lack of respect for US immigration laws and due process, everybody suffers and single women are seen as a target for visa refusals unless they can show strong ties to home country.

Until you are able to do so, your visa will be denied. You are not being "punished" but simply, failing to overcome the suspicion that you will marry one of those friends of yours.
