Need help on visitors visa for my mom

Hi,
I am deputed to US company from my indian company from 6th feb'08 on L1 Visa. My wife and son's (9-month old) visa are also got stamped (L2- dependant visa). all this visa are valid till jan 2010.
Currently I have travelled alone and my wife and son are there in india. Actually I want to apply for the visa for my mom she is widow and currently getting pension. My father was an bank officer just expired in last july'07; there are 2 houses on the name of my mom in india and reasonable bank balance. Please guide and suggest when should I go for filing visa for my mom. I have one married sister in india no brother. I want to call my mom as soon as possible but my friends suggested me to wait till 6months; 6months will be too long for me as my stay here is also not decided and it is confirmed till Sep'08 only please guide me.
1. When should I apply for the visa for my mom
2. What should be reason shown for visit for my mom.
3. What are the documents required.

2. You CANNOT call your mom to live with you here in US. She can only VISIT you in US for a duration alotted at the PoE. Be careful about the duration and frequency of her visits so that an immigrant behavior is not suspected.

1. You friends are correct. The more time you spend in US before inviting your mom, the better ability you'll have to support her during her stay, thats what visa officers think. Legally, you can can apply anytime, even the day you land in US.

Need help on filing a Visa for mom

Yes you are correct I am not going to call my mom to live in USA even I am not going to live here for long (I will be here only for 1 yrs only)
I just want to call her for few months only; but for that
1. What reason should she tell to the VO.
2. Will below ties of her in india will do?
-> my sister (married) is in india
--> my grandmother, her mother is in india
--> 3 houses on her name as well as good bank balance
3. Whom should we show as sponser Me or herself?
-->I dont have much credit history here as I just came on february but I am earning $60K/yr.
-->She is house wife and getting pension only (INR 10K/month) but has enought bank balance and 3 houses on her name.

And how much time should I wait to apply for her visa to be on safer side?

3 months
6 months (it will be a too long for me )

Mom's visa approved

Hi My mom attend d visa interview @mumbai on 1st april'08.
Very few questions asked and her visa is approved!!
