Multiple Last Names

My Parents are going for B2 (Visitors) Visa. The issue we are having is that ; on my parents passport they have surname 'X' while all property papers and tax returns have surname as 'Y'.

Can it create any problems at interview. SHould we get any affidavit done or something like that ? Appericiate your response. Thanks.

Yes ...

... it's a sure shot problem. You will at the least need an affidavit indicating that these last names belong to the same person.

If you have any other additional documents that also show the same those will be helpful.
