  • Visitor Visa Rejected twice...Pls Advise

    Hello,

I came to USA on H1 Visa nearly 8 months ago. My wife joined me last month.

I have applied visitor visa for my mother and it has been rejected twice at Chennai. The reason is that the consulate officer thinks that my mother will not return in 6 months time.

I am the only son and have no siblings. My mother is a home maker and a pensioner.

Pls advise how do I go about getting the Visitor Visa approved...

    Thanks!!

It will be very hard for her to obtain a visa. If she can not prove strong ties to her country, and obviously she can not.

Wait out a couple years and then reapply. You are too fresh in the country and so while calling your mom you are sending out wrong vibes to VOs.

She is a pensioner and we have showed assets worth 60 Lacs, will that not help.. Is there any limit in reapplying for her visa in a year ? Because, she is having a hard time staying alone as she is a widow and wants to join me soon...

Can I mention like she will need to come back soon & take care of her mother i.e. my grandmother, as she is aged...My mother's brother is busy touring and my grand mother finds it hard.... Any advise will be appreciated..

          Your statement

" ...she is having a hard time staying alone as she is a widow and wants to join me soon... "

indicates that the visa officer has correctly assessed the situation. You mother is a potential overstay with her primary family tie in the US.

On a personal note, it sounds as though you have made the incorrect decision to leave your mother alone at home. You really need to reassess your priorities as you should not abuse a US visitor visa to have your mother live with you in the US.
