  • Parents visa interview - pls advise

    Hi all,

I am trying to schedule a visitor visa appointment for my parents. My mother does not speak english. Should I schedule a separate appointment for her with an interpretor (Tamil)? If both my father and mother appear together, will questions in english be directed to her?? My sister also lives in the US and I do not want to risk my mother with an interpretor.

Can someone with a similar scenario, advise me?

    Appreciate your inputs.

    Thanks.

Does your dad speak english? if so, he can interpret for her.

Even though many parents can speak English fluently, the VO's accent can cause some nervousness. I suggest you opt for Tamil and an interpreter. There are cases of VO directing questions to only one applicant. Your father can interpret them if he can manage with the accent. Otherwise, go for Tamil for both and use an interpreter.

      My two cents!

My parents got visa yesterday in mumbai consulate in first attempt,

father knows english well, mother does not know at all.

They went to normal window and they were asked 2 questions which they could answer easily.

        Good Luck to your parents
