  • Mother's name different in her and child's passport

My parents are applying for visitor visa and I found that my mother's name in my passport is different (MANGALA) than that in her passport (MANGLA) - by one character. Her passport was issued in 2006 and my passport was issued in 2001. Her name on her pancard is MANGLA.

My parents have my birth certificate in Marathi and her named is as follows (see below). I think both of them (MANGLA and MANGALA) are correct but I don't want the visa officer to argue on this. Since it's MANGLA on her passport, all the visa forms are filled using MANGLA.

Would this create any issues? If asked during the interview, what should be a deft reply? Apart from the birth certificate, should they be taking any other documents to answer this issue?

    I really appreciate the favor.

Just go by the name in your mother's passport. Don't worry about the name variation in your passport.
