Carry on baggage nad purse ......

Hi...

My mother is trvelling by NWA...
Can she carry food for herself in the purse as she doesnt like to have the one povided by the airlines..
And wat is the weight limit for the carry on baggage ? is it ok to carry dry fruits in tat bag?
