Hi. My brother and me applied under b1/b2 cateogory of visa for his medical treatment in U.S. Can we apply for our parents visa under the same category even though it may be for few weeks only. We want that our parents should be able to visit atleast once during the treatment duration. Our stay is likely to be for 2-3 months.

We both have been told to deposit the passport which we've done. reply still awaited.
we are still in india.
treatment might involve hospitalisation for around 2-3 months.
medical expenses will be borne by us which we've shown in an affidavit from a ca.
father is a businessman while mother is working.
we are only two children of our parents and working.
we wish that our parents are able to atleast visit us once during the treatment. as of now we both plan to leave for us. will it be possible that they both get visa even if for few weeks. or else even one is allowed for a visa.
Regards,

All they can do is apply for the visa. Consular officers are human beings; they will understand the situation. It appears that you have been able to demonstrate to the VO's satisfaction that you will return home; your parents should be able to do so as well.
I hope that your brother's treatment is successful.

Thanks for the info.
The strategy should be for them to apply only when you both have been there for at least a couple of weeks and can show evidence of ongoing treatment there.
They should not apply while you are still in India, that is bad strategy.
If your brother's condition is not life threatening while in US, your mom can apply alone saying your dad is busy with business and cannot go.That will leave a strong tie in India for everyone to come back to.
If it is life threatening , both may apply.Last edited by peace; 03-31-2008, 05:41 PM.
