letter of invitation

Hello,
I am a student in the US. I would like to have my friend come and visit me this summer for a month. I understand that he will need a letter of invitation in order to apply for his tourist visa. Where can I obtain that letter and can I send it or does it have to be an invitation signed by a US citizen.

You do not need to obtain it from anywhere. You can just computer type it
yourself, but in reality, it is almost impossible for a student to get a visitor visa on the invitation from a friend in US.

The officers think it is highly unnatural for someone to go 14000 miles to US
just to visit a friend. They suspect that the student wishes to settle there and will not return.

ADIVCE; If your friend has some relatives in US, they should send an invitation letter and not you. If he does not have any relatives, he should plan a family trip or a trip with a group of students in India without a mention of you.
