  • visiting visa for my parents and brother...urgent!!!!!

    Dear Immigration personnel,

I thank you for all the help that you are providing to people like us. Below described is my problem and I need your guidance.

I am in USA on F1 since 2 years and my husband is on F2 with me now. I would like to invite my father, mother and 21 years old brother for my graduation. My father is retired doctor and mother is working in state government.

    1. Do you suggest to fill out one application form and all of the family go for the interview together?

    2. If my brother goes alone for the visa, does he need seperate documents for financing the usa trip?

    3. Do I need my mother to be the principal applicant as my father is a retired doctor, so that ways she can show that she is working and will return back?

    4. Do you think that my brother is young and so will have any difficulties in getting visa?

    5. I have heard that the USA consulates are getting strict about giving visas. Is that true? Do you see any problem or objection for my family to obtain the visa?

I am sorry for this long querry. But please help me as soon as possible.

    Thanks

    Mrs. Dave

Young, single , brother going for your graduation will most likely not get the visa. THe reason; purpose is too casual for a young single person. Traveling 1400o miles just to attend a graduation seems fine for your parents ( sentimental value) but for your brother it sounds unnatural and gives the impression that he won't return.

For them, there is the issue of financing the trip. You being on F1 cannot fund the trip. So , they will have to show very good family income . Showing your dad as retired does not go in his favour.

Also, if your brother has any future plans to apply for F1 visa, it is better that he not go for the visitor visa as if he gets rejected based on him being coined as a potential immigrant, that will ruin his career and future plans to study, if any.

That would increase chances of rejection for the F1 as well.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
