Hi,

I'm on a student visa in canada. I want to visit my Sister in USA for a month.
Can anyone please tell me what is the process to get a visitors visa. Or is there any other way to visit USA.

Yes, you should apply for a visitor visa.
But you must plan it out because visitor visas are not that easy to get.

*How long have you been in canada as a student?
*What is your sister's visa status in US?
*How long has she been in US? Is she working?
*How are you supporting your studies in canada?
*Do you have a good bank balance in canada?
*How many siblings in India and what do parents do in India?

Its been 5 monts since I have come to Canada. My sister is in USA since 4 years and working since 1 1/2 year. She is on H1 visa and planning to sponser me. Please let me know my chances of getting Visa. Or Can I get a transit visa for a very brief visit.

*Apply for a visit visa not a transit visa.
*Do not apply outside your vacation time at your school in canada.
*Must show enrolment and vacation time on a document from your school.
*Apply for 2 weeks only.
*Do not say going to US on tourism as many people mistakenly say.
Say going to see sister, as I have not seen her in a long time.
*If you have a very good bank balance in canada, instead of showing
sponsorship from sister, show self financing the trip as that will go in your favour. In that case, just get an invitation letter from your sis, copies of
her visa/passport and any documents establishing relationship with her.
Copies of her Birth Cert. and your bc showing both your parents' names.
*You may be asked questions about your situation in INdia and your plans after you complete studies in canada. YOu must say you wish to return to India and live close to your parents.
